The stars were barely visible, clouds covering the majority of the night sky. Boliko was flying close to the surface of the ocean, the energy of his aura causing small waves to roll to the sides as he flew away from Roshi's island. It had been a while since he had seen Kuloki and he figured he'd stop by Satan City and see how she was doing. As he flew toward the city he closed his eyes and began contemplating the last couple of weeks.
Man, I've grown a lot in the short time since I've left home, the teen thought to himself. I've learned some new techniques and I've even defeated a couple of strong warriors along the way! I even mastered the Kamehameha, Roshi's signature move! I can't wait to try it out in my next battle.
Boliko's high spirits were suddenly diminished as a voice inside his head reminded him of the failures he had endured. That's right... Boliko realized as he remembered his encounter with Shriek and Scream. I wasn't able to save that girl's purse from Shriek though, and not only did I lose in a battle to Scream...he had to come in and save a village from being destroyed by a blast I fired with my own hands...
The aura around Boliko flared up and the small waves rolling to the sides suddenly grew into larger waves of water, a sea of turmoil mirroring the feelings of his heart being left behind Boliko as he sped through the night. Boliko gritted his teeth and clenched his right fist, opening his eyes and looking down at it. On my quest to gain more power, I can never forget the values mother raised me with. I will use my power to protect the inhabitants of the Earth...no, the whole UNIVERSE, from evil. I won't let blood be stained on these hands. Boliko took in a deep breath and let it out slowly, relaxing his hand and putting his arm back at his side. Boliko looked up and saw Satan City in the distance, its skyscrapers lighting up the sky and the clouds high above. I need to relax for a minute, I need to be completely calm when I see her dad so that I don't lose my temper around that selfish Dr. Mario.
Boliko flew around the city and landed in the middle of a grassy field surrounded by large hills a few miles away from Satan City. Boliko stretched his arms above his head and let out a huge yawn as he fell back onto the grass and looked up at the night sky. The clouds were beginning to clear a little, and he could see beams of moonlight shining down through the holes in the clouds. Boliko's thoughts began to drift toward that of space. I can't wait until I'm done training so that I can head off to Namek with Riliza. I should get in a few more fights before I take off though, Riliza's told me there are some powerful warriors there. Warriors much more powerful than Scream... Boliko closed his eyes as his thoughts drifted once more back to what he was going to say to Kuloki. Man, I wonder what the look on her face is gonna be when I tell her I turned down the chance to go to the same school as her to focus on my training...
As he fumbled through his brain for a proper greeting, he failed to notice his tail had popped out under the back of his shirt when he was flying across the ocean. Boliko felt a strange itch and turned his head to the left, opening his eyes to see his tail twitching on the ground, as if reacting to something. Thats strange, I wonder what could be going on... His tail began to lift up into the air as if reaching for something in the sky. Boliko suddenly realized the whole grassy field was lit up by a bright light coming from the sky. He turned his head up to the sky to see what the source was.
There high above him was a full moon. Boliko basked in the glory of the brilliant white sphere. "Wow... it's been a while since I've seen a full moon like this." He thought aloud as he stared up at it. "Wait, didn't mother warn me once abou..." Boliko was caught mid sentence as every body in his muscle froze. He stared up at the moon, transfixed by its glare as a monstrous force began to waken inside of him. His muscles began to bulge and his eyes began to turn red as he involuntarily rose to his feet. What the...what's happening to me? What's going on? Boliko thought to himself. He tried with all his might to move, but he couldn't gain control of himself as a primal rage began to awaken. A brown aura engulfed the man as Boliko's mouth opened and he let out a loud cry, two of his front teeth beginning to lengthen, brown fur emerging from the pours of his skin.
No...NO! I remember now! A flashback began to run through his mind as Gohan's body began to grow, his clothes being ripped apart as he began to take the shape of a large ape, his tail growing longer and thicker as well...
~Flashback~
"Mummy, look at this!" a very young Boliko gleefully cried as he came running into his house. In his right hand he held a tail that had popped out of the back of his pants. "I have a tail, just like daddy used to have, look!"
Kuloki looked up from where she sat at the breakfast table, swallowing down a mouthful of eggs and smiling. "Oooooooooh! Looks like you have more Saiyan blood inside you than I thought. Gohan! I use to play with his tail all the time when I was your age!" She put a hand in Boliko's hair and ruffled it around. Boliko laughed. "That tickles mummy, stop!"
His mother's smile suddenly turned to a grim look as she stood up from her chair at the table and got down on one knee, her face level with Boliko's. "Boliko, I need you to listen very carefully to me," she said as she placed her hands on a very young Boliko's shoulders. Boliko looked at his with a puzzled look. He had never been this serious before. "As long as you have that tail, its okay to play with it, but never, NEVER look at the moon at night if its full." His mother's eyes trembled as she spoke these words. Boliko stared up at his dad, a dumbfounded look on his face."But mummy, why..."
"Boliko!" Mother snapped. "Never forget this, promise me!" Tears began to well up in Boliko's eyes and he burst out in tears as he hugged his mum. "Okaaaay I promise!!! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" Mother smiled again and held his son. "It's okay, Boliko. Just never forget. Now why don't you have some pancakes?"
~Back to the present a minute later~
Lightning began to strike the ground around the huge ape that stood where Boliko once was as it beat its chest and roared at the moon that was shining brilliantly down on the clearing, the clouds forming a circle around it. Boliko had transformed into the bane of his race, Oozaru. This is what dad meant back then! No...I...I'm not in control. I can't let anyone get hurt...I'm...losing...my...
At that moment, all shreds of Boliko's conscience were cast deep into the depths of his mind as the bloodlust from his new power overwhelmed it. The mindless beast powered up a large ball of energy in its mouth and blasted at a nearby hill. A huge explosion erupted as the hill was ripped apart, boulders and trees sent flying in all directions. The beast reared back and roared at the moon once more. It jumped high into the air and landed on top of another hill, squatting on all fours, its tail swishing back and forth, flattening everything in its path into the hillside. The beast squinted its eyes as it saw the lights of Satan City dotting the skyline in the distance. Transfixed, the beast slowly began loping toward the city...
